Health Tourism Confederation

Companies and individuals involved in health tourism in Turkey have established associations operating in the field of health tourism.

For a while, they continued their work through these associations. In 2022, they established associations operating in various provinces. Later, these associations decided to come together.

On January 1, 2024, they established and announced the Ankara Health Tourism Federation at the Ankara Governorship.

At the 1st Ordinary General Assembly of the Ankara Health Tourism Federation held on March 24, 2024, Prof. Dr. Aysun Bay was nominated as the sole candidate for the presidency of the Federation with the unanimous decision of all delegates. Prof. Dr. Aysun Bay was elected president of the federation with the votes of all 600 delegates.

The aim is to bring together health tourism stakeholders holding international health tourism authorization certificates under one roof and to facilitate Turkey’s rapid and lasting achievement of its rightful place in the global health tourism sector.

Our Confederation aims to bring together Health Tourism Facilities and Intermediary Institutions holding International Health Tourism Authorization Certificates with individuals traveling to our country from their city or country of residence to receive healthcare services; to ensure effective communication between its members and international healthcare institutions and professionals; to introduce our country’s authorized healthcare facilities and intermediary institutions more closely to civil society organizations and private and public institutions operating in the field of health tourism abroad; to organize domestic and international promotional activities in this field; to benefit its members by actively lobbying in favor of Turkey on issues within its scope of work; to present recommendations, suggestions, and studies to public institutions for the development of health tourism legislation; and to contribute to the development of the Health Tourism Sector.

Thanks to the vision, experience, and quality service understanding of its members, the Health Tourism Confederation develops bilateral relations with international healthcare institutions, intermediary institutions, and healthcare professionals, and conducts active lobbying and promotional activities abroad that benefit Turkish Health Tourism stakeholders.

Health Tourism; Health tourism is the act of visiting a country outside of one’s own for the purpose of receiving preventive, curative, rehabilitative, and health-promoting services for both sick and healthy individuals. Health tourism aims to enable the growth of healthcare institutions by utilizing the potential of international health-related mobility. In this context, it establishes national and international agreements in the fields of Thermal Health Tourism, Medical Tourism, Geriatric Tourism, Tourism for Individuals with Disabilities, and Dental Tourism.

Our confederation aims to raise awareness and educate the public on medical tourism, thermal tourism, and senior and disability tourism; to establish relationships with relevant national and international organizations and participate in similar projects; to contribute to the sectoral development of our members through training in health tourism; to provide consultancy services to individuals, institutions, and organizations; to organize events for the healthcare sector; and to undertake all necessary work and activities under the umbrella of our association to achieve common goals.

Our confederation aims to make all healthcare institutions and individuals providing healthcare services in the Republic of Turkey visible, effective, and authoritative in all areas of health tourism. The Health Tourism Confederation is a non-governmental organization established to represent the health tourism sector, contributing to its development. Its aims include maintaining gender equality in the health tourism field, balancing competition with gender equality at national and international levels, and facilitating international investments by health tourism service providers.

One of the Confederation’s most important goals is to establish collaborations between the Republic of Turkey and other states and nations in the field of health tourism. With the support and contributions of the Government of the Republic of Turkey, the Confederation organizes health tourism forum conferences in cooperation with world states, Ankara Embassies, world health tourism organizations, and civil society organizations in the health sector. It also organizes health tourism cooperation meetings and initiates business partnerships by facilitating face-to-face (be-to-be) meetings with institutions, organizations, and service providers, thus contributing to the development of health tourism in Turkey and other countries worldwide.

Our Confederation leads the way in initiating humanitarian aid campaigns in Turkey and other countries around the world for nations and states in need, regardless of religion, language, race, or sect. The Confederation undertakes social responsibility projects in Turkey for the public good, for the benefit of humanity, and for our women, youth, elderly, and disabled citizens, and provides financial and moral support to such projects. It regularly provides educational scholarships to poor and needy students and supports institutions and organizations engaged in such activities.

As the Ankara Health Tourism Federation, our mission is to strengthen the sustainability of the economy in our country in the field of health tourism and to support the business world. We strive to empower our members and develop our country’s health tourism activities by providing high-standard services.
